CRS INITIATE SAFETY PATROLS AT THE RIVER LAGAN

Following a planning process that began in late 2011, the CRS tonight began safety patrols in the area around the River Lagan in Belfast City Centre. This is the first step in an ongoing process to provide assistance to those in difficulty in that area. The CRS Belfast Unit is currently leading the way in providing this service in support of the police and other emergency services with the support of CRS members from around the province. Mourne Mountain Adventure

Members of the CRS team provided safety cover for the Mourne Mountain Adventure in support of the many teams of young people who participated. The CRS had a large safety team attending with lots of equipment and a number of vehicles. The organisers stated that the event could not have been completed without the involvement of the CRS and the professionalism of their members who worked from before 06.00 hrs until after 20.00hrs to ensure everyone was safely accounted for.
